Funeral for William “Bill” Coad

The funeral will be held August 22 at 9:00 a.m. at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church.

Colonel William (Bill) Francis Coad, 90, a cherished and generous father, grandfather, great-grandfather, family member and friend, died peacefully on August 03, 2019 after many long and courageous years of sickness. He was surrounded by family in his home in San Antonio, TX. Bill was born July 10, 1929 to Stella Gertrude Coad and Martin Christian Coad in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the youngest of seven children and growing up he had a knack for sports and a strong sense of adventure. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Glenn Alice Coad, and Bill is survived by his seven children: Timothy Coad; Thomas Coad and wife Kathy; William Coad Jr. and wife Sandra; Kevin Coad; Martin Coad and wife Irene; Patrick Coad and wife JoAnn; and Kelly Coad. He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who love and miss him dearly. Bill was a strong, proud, and good man who had a quick-witted sense of humor and a warm and generous heart. He dedicated his life to service—service of country, service of family, service of community, and service of church. He entered the Army as a private and retired as a Colonel, where he had a full military career with the Army where he served three tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea. Upon returning home, Bill became very involved with his Church, serving with Saint Vincent DePaul, Knights of Columbus, and the Military of World Wars. He will be missed by all those who knew him. The family wants to sincerely thank all those who have extended joy, friendship, and compassion to Bill during his final months on Earth. The visitation/vigil celebrating Bill’s life will be held August 21at 6pm-7pm and Rosary at 7pm at Saint John Neumann Catholic Church.
